Novelties in Slovenian Corporate Income Tax legislation
On November 13, 2021 the Corporate Income Tax Act (ZDDPO-2S) (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 172/2021), entered into force, bringing changes to the use of tax reliefs and the recognition of costs. The changes apply as of January 1, 2022.

Decision of the Constitutional Court on the compliance of the Recovered-Vaccinated (RV) condition with the Constitution
After the Constitutional Court decided at the end of September that the implementation of the governments Ordinance (according to which employees in State Administration Authorities wishing to work on the employer’s premises should meet either the condition of morbidity or vaccination, while the possibility of testing is excluded from the so-called RVT) is suspended until final decision, it now judged, with six votes in favour and three against, that the aforementioned Article of the Ordinance was inconsistent with the Constitution.

EU Member States agreed to The Digital Markets Act and The Digital Services Act
At the formal meeting of the Competitiveness Council on November 25, 2021, a position was adopted (i.e. general approach) on the proposal for a Digital Markets Act and a Digital Services Act, which should provide individuals and businesses with a fairer and safer digital environment.

The tenth package of measures to mitigate the effects of the epidemic (PKP10)
With the epidemic still in full swing, the Slovenian government has accepted a proposal of the Act on additional measures to prevent the spread, mitigate, control, recover and eliminate the consequences of Covid-19. Among other things, the Act introduces a solidarity allowance for certain vulnerable groups of the population and new measures to help the economy and healthcare. Before its implementation the Act must be approved by the parliament.

European Commission presenting new rules to strengthen banks’ resilience
The European Union has been working on a wide-ranging reforms of its banking rules ever since the financial crisis of 2008, which helped the EU banking sector to enter the COVID-19 crisis on a resilient footing. However, since some of the issues have not yet been addressed, the European Commission has adopted a review of banking rules on October 27, 2021, helping EU banks become more resilient to future economic shocks and contributing to Europe’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residence and work permit in Slovenia based on business
There are a number of purposes for obtaining a temporary (and after a certain period of legal residence also permanent) residence in Slovenia. The focus of this article will be obtaining a residence through business migration. Recovered-Vaccinated (RV) condition for employees in State Administration Authorities at the Constitutional Court
After Slovenian Government added special provisions for employees in State Administration Authorities in the Article 10.a of the Ordinance on the method of meeting the condition of morbidity, vaccination and testing to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus infections (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 147/21, 149/21 and 152/21), imposing them to meet the condition of morbidity or vaccination (but not testing) from October 1, 2021, initiatives were submitted to the Constitutional Court to initiate proceedings to review constitutionality and legality of said provisions.
