Partial mitigation of measures

20 April, 2020

At its 11th regular session, held on Thursday, 16 April 2020, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Ordinance amending the Ordinance on the provisional prohibition on the offering and sale of goods and services to consumers in the Republic of Slovenia.

With a view to gradually mitigate restrictive measures and restart the economy, the ordinance provides new exceptions to the temporary general prohibition.

As of today, the stores with construction and installation materials, technical goods, furniture, specialized stores for the sale of cars and bicycles, dry cleaning, repair shops and vulcanization workshops are reopened; technical inspection and other registration procedures for motor vehicles are again being provided. Further on, it is also possible to pick up food and goods at pick-up points where minimal contact is ensured.

On the 4 May 2020, shops of up to 400 m2 (with the exception of shops in shopping centres), hairdressing and beauty salons as well as pet care salons will reopen their doors.

When providing the above services, strict protective and hygiene measures must be implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the NIPH. In accordance with Article 3 of the ordinance, employers are responsible for providing protective equipment for employees and adhering to the instructions regarding protective and hygiene measures. The foregoing is in line with employers' obligations in the field of occupational safety and health.

At the same time, the government mitigated certain restrictions on movement. This week, some outdoor sports activities where safety precautions can be respected are allowed again, such as running, yoga, tennis, golf in badminton. From Saturday, April 18, maintenance and seasonal works on private land outside the municipality of residence are also allowed. In case of control, it is necessary to submit an extract from the land register or other document proving the right to use the land or facility and a self-signed statement found here.
